The Phenomenal Josephine Baker

i recently read an article about the amazing josephine baker. she was truly a international phenomenon and the epitome of a transatlantic, modern black woman. in fact, she was fierce. i was particularly intrigued by her relationship with the art deco movement and her relationships and comparisons with animals. here is a link to a USAToday story about her. i am interested in exploring her more as a representative of the international transferance of culture, music, and identity that occurred between blacks and other nations particularily through the arts during the early part of the twentieth century. she is truly the epitome of maya angelou's poem "phenomenal woman."
